Erez directly translates to “cedar” in Hebrew, which speaks to the strong, grounded effects and earthy, piney smell this strain delivers. This strain was named after Tikun Olam’s first-ever patient and is an Indica-dominant hybrid that brings patients a sense of serenity and calm.
With a THC range between 20 -24%, this strain produces strong effects intended to relieve severe pain and reduce symptoms linked to neurological disorders like Parkinson’s and ALS, such as tremors, muscle spasms, and phantom pain. Erez is also a great choice to help alleviate stomach inflammation, reduce nausea, and improve appetite.
Beta-myrcene, Alpha-pinene, and Beta-pinene are the most active terpenes here and offer anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial effects. The terpene Limonene may also reduce acid reflux, and support serotonin and dopamine production, elevating one’s mood and making it easier to fall asleep.
The soothing quality of Erez makes it ideal for evening use, though it is not recommended for first-time users unfamiliar with strong THC products.
In the world’s first randomized, placebo-controlled, double-blind study of its kind, scientists used Erez to treat patients suffering from Crohn’s disease. The results of this test produced dramatic increases in quality of life with 90% of patients reporting substantial symptom improvement and 45% achieving “complete remission.” Encouragingly, this was in a population of patients that did not respond to steroid-based therapy.
Erez has been included in the following Tikun studies:
